Default 96 EX Transmission Question.

I have a 96 Accord EX (as aforementioned) and 113K miles down the road, my transmission has shot itself. Replacing it through the shop is 1200$, and I don't have that cash. So, what I need to know, is do I have to use another 96 Accord EX for the tranny? Or can I replace it with a 95, or a 97, or something out of a civic?

It's 2.2 VTEC 4 cylinder engine. Any help would be awesome.
Also, if anyone is selling a tranny that I could use, let me know.

Thanks.

A site like car-part.com will search for direct swaps for your 96. My guess is that 96/97 are identical and a 94/95 would not be too difficult to use as well.
