96 front brake rotor removal
We do not use the directions illustrated above. We use a hub removal tool. Remove the axel nut and the four rotor bolts, turn the rotor either direction about 1/2 inch, install the hub removal tool and remove the hub. Clean mating surfaces on the back of the hub. Place new rotor over bearing, firmly push hub back into the bearing. Take a new axel nut and cut the wings off the flange so that you are able to put the nut on backwards and use a socket to ratchet the hub back onto the car. Once you get it back on you will need to remove the cut nut and install the regular axel nut. Then install rotor bolts and torques to 40ft lbs. Axel nut torques to 180ft lbs. if you can locate a hub removal tool you will find that it takes about 30 minute per side, most of which is cleaning and prep time. Honda bearings are tough, just don't get dirt in the grease.
The other way you can do them is to revoke the entire knuckle assembly and press out the hub without taking the entire bearing out. We never take the entire bearing out and they are usually rust welded in place and have to be pressed out anyway, so cut to the chase and get the hub out. Any which way you do it, either these two ways or the one mentioned above, the hub has to be removed from the bearing.
