Anyone heard of a engine mount solenoid that is mounted on the firewall?
I have a 96 Honda Accord EX 2.2L. I had my engine replaced over a year ago and noticed that one end of the solenoid in connected to the bottom side of the intake manifold and the other end isn't connected to anything.
First I had to correct some of the other vacuum lines they had connected wrong as I didn't have any crisue control. So, there is one line connected to this valve that isn't connected to any port. I'm not sure what this valve does, but I can't figure out where this one vacuum line goes.

If this is an auto trans.....yes there is a vac assit rear motor mount...meaning there is a solenoid and vac line running to it.

 

This is what the valve looks like.
One end is going to the intake manifold and the other is just capped.
That doesn't look right.

Yep, that looks like the solenoid for the rear mount. Check the rear mount, almost directly below where the solenoid is....is there a vac port on the mount?

 

I can see the rear motor mount. As a matter of fact, the mechanic showed me the old motor mount when he took the engine out and told me it was shot, so he replaced it.
Very hard to see down into the engine though. It looks like the motor mount is to the left of the hot water valve for the heater.
I looked at the motor mount closely and see NO vacuum port.

Yes, that is a picture of one without the valve...

From the factory (auto trans) the mount has the valve....some will delete it, like yours. replacement mount without this is cheaper than one with it.

If your mount does not have it, as long as the line is capped you will be fine. If it does, it is up to you if you want to hook up the line.

The theory for this is at idle, especailly with ac on, this will help smooth engine vibration in the car.

 

I looked at the motor mount on the car and there is a bracket where the vacuum port is suppose to go, but this one has none. This mount has one without the vacuum control. I looked up the original part for my car and it appears that it has a vacuum port on it.

So when he replaced it, he got a motor mount without the vacuum solenoid control unit because it was cheaper. So the motor mount helps for better control for idling and reduce vibration as you said for the vacuum type. I know the front motor mount has fluid in it. I had to get that replaced several years ago and it cost $350 just for the part.
