i have an opportunity to pick up a 97 accord EX sedan with 166,000 mile..
for 1500.00...has nice appearance...good interior...working air conditioner...
with one kicker.....if you let off the acceleraton while it is in
overdrive with converter locked.....it makes a horrible grinding
noise...it drives fine at highway speed.....but if you roll out of the accelerator...it does this grind thing..until you pull into D3...i am sure the tranny will be taken out at some point...anyone have an idea what the grind is? any thoughts would be appreciated...thanks

 

Well, you could get the car, do a few drain and fills (three) with Honda trans fluid and see what you get?
