The OEM optional spoiler trunk light is an LED, as shown in the electrical circuit diagram I previously posted.

Here is a copy of the installation instruction for the spoiler as a whole.

Cool!!! Looks like the 2 door and 4 door use the same spoiler. Well now it's time to order that 17.5" from spoilerlights.com. Thank you for all the help.

Let us know how it works out.

1. We like to know the "end of the story".

2. Somewhere down the road, someone else might run across this thread and be able to find an answer to their question/issue.

I agree, nothing more frustrating than finding threads that end up as cliffhangers. I am pretty concientious about giving updates. It may be a month or so before she gets back in town but I will report the results. Thanks again...

And I now have an update. I got a call from my daughter last night that her drivers window was stuck down and she couldn't get it up. That was a big problem because of all the recent rain we have been having. She asked if she could come by today to see if I could do anything. I told her to come on home and figured I could take care of the spoiler light at the same time. I had talked to her a couple weeks ago and had her go out and measure the cutout. She came up with 15-1/2" so that is what I had ordered. I was originally going to order it from Spoilerlights.com - Replacement Spoiler LED Third Brake Lights but found the same spoiler light a little cheaper at Amazon
HERE HERE
. I was ordering some other stuff as well so I got free shipping. She got home just before a major storm hit and we were able to get it safely into the garage. I had seen a link in another thread for a youtube video on how to
and gave it a try. Now I got it to at least work most of the time but it really needs to be replaced. So after working on the switch, I started on the spoiler brake light. I am still think that this might be an OEM spoiler as it is mounted exactly in the same spot (mounting holes) like the instructions earlier in this thread called for. My daughter was correct that the slot called for the 15-1/2" light and the replacement fit in the spot perfectly. The old screws were still attached where the old missing light had been which was a good thing because the new light didn't come with any. It also appeared that the old wire was in place and running into the spoiler. I checked the end of the wiring and it had spade connectors that fit exactly into the factory 3rd brake light connector. Another point for it being OEM. I had to remove the spoiler as I couldn't access the light mounting screws. One difference between the instuctions for OEM and this spoiler though is that it had large phillip head screws instead of the 10mm bolts. I tried to remove the spoiler mounting screws (phillips head screws) but they were so tight that I was worried about stripping them out. The screw heads were big enough to where I was able to clamp a pair of vice grips on each one and was able to get them loose without damaging them. I then removed the four screws. I found the old wiring still going into the spoiler and pulled it out to check the end and discovered it had been cut but the old wiring harness seemed to be in decent shape so I decided to use it instead of pulling all the old wiring out and the new wiring through. I did have to get the new wiring through the spoiler so I could connect it to the old harness. It wasn't too bad. I pushed all of it through the center hole spoiler hole where the light mounted and while holding the spoiler up and down, shook it a few times and could see it by the lower hole near the mounting screw holes. I used a pair of long needlenose pliers to pull it out. I trimmed down the new wiring and connected it to the old wiring by twisting it together and tested it. It worked perfectly so I finished it by soldering and shrink wrapping it. I remounted the spoiler and now she has a working spoiler/3rd brake light. It looks like it has been there all along. I took a few pictures but they didn't come out so good as it was dark out and she got here after she got off of work, me as well.

After re-reading the spoiler instructions, the wiring harness appears to be different. Now I can't be certain if this is OEM but if it isn't, it sure seems awfully close. I wonder if the previous owner had already replaced this light once before and that would explain the different wiring harness. Either way, I'm glad she has a working 3rd brake lot now and I hope this info can help someone else out...

At the end of the day, she has all of the brake lights working. THANK YOU for the follow up.

Many times cleaning the switch will get it back into order......if it is still acting up there is a way to "jump pins" on the wire harness to make the window go up...IF the switch is the issue. Meaning the switch is at the top of the list but the window motor is also "in play"
