Default 98 Distributor Removal

My 98 Accord DX (124,000 miles) needs the heater hoses to be replaced. I feel capable to remove the air intake, drain the coolant and replace the hoses. I am afraid to remove the distributor and mare the timing putting it back. It will be mighty difficult to replace the heater hoses without removing the distributor. Now would somebody please tell me a safe sequence to remove the distributor and putting it back?

Thanks.

you should not have to. is it the cap that is cramping space? if so just romove the cap, i would take off rotor too, to avoid damaging it

Thanks for the tip. I will work on my hoses this weekend. If my hose break before week's end, since they are just o.623 in diameter could I block the ends of the hose with corks ?
