Default 98 Honda Accord - Left turn signal stays on

Hi guys!

Problem just started last night. Never happened before. When my headlights are switched all the way on, the left turn signal light stays lit. The front headlight turn signal and rear one also stays lit. When I pull the lever to activate the left, nothing happens.. but when I pull the lever to signal a right turn, the right turn signal blinks as normal.

Heres where it gets weird. When my headlights are off, the left turn signal works, lights and blinks normally.. but the entire dash blinks along with it. The front and back lights also work and blink normally..

Even without the keys in the ignition, when I switch on the lights, the left turn signal turns on and stays on. The front and rear bulbs also light up.

I figure I can rule out a bad switch, bad bulbs, and fuse. Wiring seems to be the culprit.. but thing is, I have no idea where to even start to try to pin point which exact wire it is.

Another thing I noticed, while driving at night with it stuck on, it will randomly flicker and turn off for a couple seconds, then come right back on.

Any help will be appreciated! If you guys need me to test anything else out, I will. Thank you again!

Sounds like a bad ground to me. Whenever a bunch of things that should not be related, all start acting flaky; look for bad grounds.

Another strange thing for you to check...
The front turnsignal bulbs have 2 separate filaments and 2 separate contact nubs on their base. I once had a similar problem and those contact nubs on the bulb base had mashed a little and bridged the contacts between them. So the parking light circuit would light up the turn-signal whenever I turned on the headlights.

I quite a noob so bare with me please..

How do I go about checking for a bad ground? And how would I go about checking the filaments and the contact nubs?

My headlights are aftermarket.. halo projectors

Take out the right-front turnsignal bulb - I bet the base of the bulb has 2 little nubs that make contact with 2 separate terminals in the socket. Do those nubs look like they're mashed down? If so, get a new bulb. Maybe for the price of a new bulb you can try that anyway.

I don't have wiring drawings any more for 1998, so I'm hoping someone will chime in with ground locations for you to check. Basically it's a place where a bunch of wires are bolted down to the metal structure of the car. Unscrew them, clean em up so they're shiny, then bolt them back tight. Flaky grounds happen when those connections are loose, dirty, or corroded.

In fact, you can try to follow the BLACK wire from a lamp socket, to find where it's bolted to the metal of the car. If it dissappears into the wiring harness, then we'll have to rely on someone knowing where the grounds are located.

Something like G301 is what Jim is talking about.....see if this helps in finding it
