Where's that code for us to decipher?

 

OK Everyone Sorry for the delay, Christmas and all. I just read the codes on my car.

It is showing.

P0135, O2 Heater Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 1.

P1456, EVAP Emission Control Leak in Fuel System.

What do I check for the P1456 code?

 

P1456 = EVAP system leak in fuel tank system.

That's the code that would show if you left your fuel cap loose, so check that first. Or maybe a bad gasket on the gas cap.

Otherwise, it means your gas tank isn't airtight like it's supposed to be. There's a few solenoid valves at the charcoal canister that can be a problem. I wrote something up for P1457 which is the other side of the EVAP system so it won't help directly.

The car came with two fuel caps, the OEM and an after market. The code was still present. I just ran it today with the cap from my 96 that had no codes and it is still doing it. I suspect that soemthing is wrong with either the filler hose assembly or a connection on the fuel tank. Ever heard of anything like that? That PO2 sensor code does indicate that I do not have ULEV Cali emisions ecu, right? My car has the regular standard emissions package right?

The O2 is for the NON ULEV, so the reg o2 is what you need. Be sure the heater circut is good, seen some where the wires for the heater part get loose or something.

For the evap, sorry I'm not much help. I have read other posts on testing procedures-search this site (DIY section, ect). I've also read posts on Honda-Tech about this code.

 

P0135 = heater circuit
Find the 2 same-color (black?) wires on the sensor. Should measure 10 to 40 ohms between them. If that measures OK then problem is in car's wiring.
