'98accord: Headlight is out but if you bang on headlight plastic it comes on??
So this is a strange problem.
Its a 4door 1998 honda accord, and the passenger headlight is out. If you bang on the plastic light assembly, it comes back on. This is so crazy I had to see it for myself. I looked at the contacts on the headlight and the wiring harness, but nothing is corroded. We haven't tried changing headlights yet because the light will work for the rest of the day.
I would love to hear ideas why its doing that..
Thanks guys!
Mike

I would have to say that there is a short in the wires or in the socket itself..clean off the connecters and the headlight plug and see if thi stops the problem..also check the ground wire from the headlight to the body.

swap the bulb from the passenger side to the drivers side, if the drivers side starts doing it then you know what's wrong, if it's still the passenger side then inspect the harness very carefully, make sure the contacts don't have a problem...

headlight housing is made from acrilic and abs platic...you cannot use it as a ground...most likely just like the others said, change the bulb...there is a loose connection and when you whack it, it starts to work.......
