The 4 Cyl engine in my Wife's 1999 Accord sounds like it may need a valve adjustment. I am not sure if the noises it is making are normal or if there is something that needs adjusting/replacing.

Please listen to the audio file here and let me know what you think. In this file, I start by letting the engine idle. I then rev bring the RPM to about 1200, then to about 2200, then 3000, then gradually back to idle.

 

Yup you guessed it right, it needs a valve adjustment.

Having them click like that won't hurt your engine at all it is more of an annoyance than anything.
