Default 99 accord starter

I have a 1999 Honda Accord 4 cyl. AT. The starter went out in it about 4 months ago and now it has gone out again...Can anyone think of a reason the starter would quit again? I read about a recall on the ignition switch, which I have also had some issues with (stalling while driving) and I am going to get that fixed. Do you think thestarter problemscould be related to the bad ignition switch?

What did you do to fix the starter problem previously? Replace it?

How do you know the starter "went out." What is the car acting like when you try to crank it? How did you know the starter "went out" the first time?
I have a feeling your starter is fine. There is probably another problem.

When I tried to turn the car over, I heard a click and that was it. We tried jumping it (even though the battery seemed fine.), we tapped on the starter, and still nothing. I took the starter to AutoZone and had it tested. The starter was bad, both times. When we replaced the starter (both times) the car worked fine. I just thought it was strange for a starter to go out after only four months. Perhaps it was a bad starter? I hope that it will be fixed for good this time, but I wont know unless it goes out again....

if two starters went bad in that short a time, something must be causing that...any shorts to ground? was the starter fried?

did you use non factory starters ?? I have seen it happen quite a bit with cheap starters from auto zone, checker etc etc , that after a few months they go bad ,
we use to install non honda starter to save customers money but after we had to replace some of them after a few months under warranty ,we will install nothing but Honda starters

I did use an off-brand starter both times. I never even thought to go to Honda and get the part that was made for the car....jeez. I don't know if it was "fried". When I had it tested at Autozone, they said it was bad. It was locked up both times. I'm not really a mechanic so I don't know if there are any shorts. The new Autozone starter we put in is working for now but if it happens again I'll know to get factory parts for it. Thanks a bunch, guys.
