Default 99 LX quits while I'm driving...

For a couple of weeks now, my 99 LX will just shut off while I'm driving. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason--it has happened on the highway, around town, right after I start it in the morning, when I'm stopped at a light, pretty much anytime. Usually I pull over, wait a few minutes, then try to start it again. It usually takes 2 or 3 tries before the car will restart, with about a minute in between each attempt. When it shuts off, nothing works but the emergency blinkers.

Also, and this may or may not be related, but the car doesn't start for 2 or 3 tries no matter when I start it. It sounds like it's trying to start, but it doesn't turn over.

Can someone please give me some advice? I'm not terribly savvy, but I know the basics. Thanks a lot.

has the ignition switch recall been completed? If not, get it done.
