Default ABS sensor removal

2000 accord EX, 4 cy. 3 of the 4 wheel studs broke off. In order to replace them the hub has to come off. In order to remove the hub the whole spindle assembly has to come off. I've done all that. I can not get the ABS sensor out. I removed the bolt holding it place. But it will not move. On the sensor side there is a cover (I'll call it a cover) that covers the metal part of the sensor. The flat part that sits against the housing has I believe 6 small hole. Is this an additional securing device? In a nutshell, how the heck do I get the sensor out. That's all that is left.
Thanks Bill

I would have to look at that on my 2000 but if you are talking about front wheel studs, I have broken 3 on it but replaced them WITHOUT pulling the hub. It was tight I slightly hurt the treads on one putting it in, but running a nut on it made it work fine.

I haven't worked on a 2000 Accord, but on all other ABS wheel sensors I've seen including 2003 Acura MDX, there is only the one bolt retaining the sensor into the knuckle assembly. Have you tried bumping lightly w/ a hammer? It may be stuck, possibly bent by a wobbling axle tone ring?

Check "knuckle" at Majestic Honda. You'll see there's only one bolt holding sensor in place.

good luck

There was not way the studs were going to come out on my accord, although there is enough clearance for the broken ones, they still come in contact with the housing behind the hub. This made them go at an angle. Its off now and the studs and bearing have been replaced. All I need now is the castle nuts. Ace didn't have then nor autozone.

I did the banging not bumping. Needless to say, I am replacing the sensor. Lesson learned, next time I'll just disconnect it from the terminal.

Around here it's pretty common for the sensor to get stuck in corrosion and difficult to remove after you take out the bolt. I was gonna say PB-Blaster but it sounds like it's too late.

I wonder whether getting the new stud in might be enabled by grinding a flat on one side to allow alignment for insertion?

good luck
