ABS Sensor Replacement

Default ABS Sensor Replacement

Hello,

I have a '93 Accord, Auto, 116K.

I think I have a bad front abs sensor. When I'm braking, when I almost get to a stop, the abs brakes of the passenger front brakes will activate, despite being on dry pavement. I'm worried about burning out my pads/caliper prematurely, so I'm going to replace the abs sensor.

I have an old one laying around from an old steering knuckle that I ran across and I'm curious if it's a plug 'n chug operation. Any suggestions and/warnings? Things I should know about?

Its pretty simple DIY. Use some kind of penetrating oil on the two bolts, as they can become rusty.

I would first look for a buildup of grease/dirt on the original sensor and on the metal strap with little teeth on the CV joint. That could cause the ABS sensor to pick up a false signal. It is worth a shot.

If tone ring (ring w/ gear like teeth) is dirty, you can clean by stuffing a rag down the sensor opening and turning the wheel by hand.
