Wink AC/Heater Blower

Hello All,

My 97 Accord SE recently started making some noises.

When running the heat or AC with the blower motor on, there is an annoying squeal coming from under the PS dash.

Sounds to me like the blower motor bearings are making noise, as when I turn the blower off the noise stops.

My question is this a common problem, and does the motor need to be replaced, or just possibly lubricated?

Any ideas would help. Thanks!

Blower motor needs to be replaced. The motor bushings (not bearings) are worn and allowing the motor rotor to contact the field magnets. The screech is intolerable. New motors are readily available (ebay, rockauto, etc) and an easy install. Rear screw on motor is more easily reached w/ a flexible screwdriver extension.

good luck

Thanks TH,

I'll look into doing that job soon. And yes you get into a hot car, turn on the AC and hear this squeal driving all the way home. But I'll deal with the noise for now and it least be cool!
