Default AC panel not functioning in Accord 1998

Hello to you all in the forum. Is being long I have been on this forum. My Honda accord AC panel got burnt and malfunctions for some time now. The AC doesn't work and the AC button but the fan is still working very well. Temperature **** is not working.
So what I did I have to get a relay button having ON/OFF switch and do a by pass to enable me on and off the AC at will since the panel which controls these button is not working. I am planning getting a new replacement panel for the AC soonest.
My question is using the AC in this way does it have any negative effect on the engine performance and what are the likely damages it can result to? Mileage 235000, Auto trans; 4cylinder .
Hope to hear from the forum soon
Thanks

Are the cooling fans coming on when you do this - not exactly sure where or what you "tapped into".

I might not have an answer for you, but I suspect some confusion. When Poorman says "cooling fans" I think he means the radiator fans. And I wonder if you (Rilex) are talking about the interior ventilation fan??

Now then... Operating the AC manually, like I think you are talking about, has the risk of producing too much pressure in the high side of the AC system. If you have to switch the AC on & off manually, you risk getting distracted by traffic or something, and leaving it on too long. When it cycles under its own control, it only runs for 20 or 30 seconds at a time. Don't allow it to run very long.

I want to thank you all for replying. I want to make some point of correction here. Actually is the AC button that is not working due to damaged AC panel that got burnt sometime ago. The interior ventilation fan still works fine no problem but the AC button does not respond to touch so we decide to do a by pass from the compressor to a seperate external relay with on or off switch so as to on the AC whenever we desire it.
my previous question was that is there any long time negative effect on the engine performance and other components of the AC system?
I will greatly appreciate your response to this new development.
THANKS
