accord 04 transmission help
hey guys, new to the forum. I have a question on transmission fluid. I went to get an oil change at midas and the guy told me my transmission fluid is almost black and that i should change it. I didnt get a look at the fluid myself though. I have 130K on the car already and have never changed the transmission fluid. My questions is should i change it now since it is that old already?
If you look in the owner's manual, it has a table of the mileage to change fluids.
On the 04 accord, the fluid should be changed every 120K miles. You are not that far past the recommended interval, so I would change the ATF.
If you search L7_RsnD8hAU on YouTube to see how to do it yourself. Use only Honda ATF. You can drain 3 quarts, inspect the condition of the fluid, then refill. If the fluid looks nasty, you may want to repeat the drain and refill two more times (buy 9 quarts total).
No matter what, do not get the transmission flushed. Honda transmissions do not like being flushed.
