Default Accord 1991 starts only sometimes

I have a Honda Accord 1991 that was running fine until today
while on the highway the engine staled and stopped, I tried to start it many times but nothing...I thought I ran out of gas because it sounded like it but after i refilled gas it still didn't start.

after towing it home and leaving it for a few hours I tried again and it started so I took it around the neighborhood to try for about 5 minutes and when I was parking it it stopped again and wouldn't start
I'm suspecting the engine doesn't get enough fuel supply but how can I tell if it's the Fuel filter or the fuel pump?

the check engine light was on for about a month now

In the meantime, I'd call AAA and sign-up over the phone for their towing insurance
basic (like 7 miles), [whatever the level name is] - 100 miles, or premier (200 miles).

Has saved me on M/C or in car enough times that I recommend it.

When no-start condition is present, check that fuel pump comes on w/ ignition switch turned to On and runs for 2-3 secs. If you don't hear fuel pump buzz in fuel tank, then fuel delivery; main fuel relay or fuel pump are likely.

If you hear the fuel pump come on and go off, then fuel pressure is likely OK and problem is absence of spark; ignition switch fault, faulty coil, or ignitor.

good luck
