Post Accord 93 Trans. Flush Question

Greetings to all,
Could you please tell me how much trans fluid is needed when flushing a 93 accord transmission? The dealer told me that if the trans drain plug is opened then about 3 liters will be drained out.
But, I am planning to open the outlet line that goes to the radiator and try to get all the old fluid from the torque converter as well.

Also, are the Honda ATF DW-1 and ATF Z-1 compatible with each other (i.e. can they be mixed)?

Please let me know.

Thx & BR

ATF in torque converter won't drain by gravity and must be pumped out.

See following video for explanation on how to replace all ATF.

My understanding is the fluids can be mixed. I would suggest confirming w/ Honda parts.

good luck

Yes the fluids can be mixed - the 07 Pilot has been thru the "change" in fluid without any issues so far. Got it with 40K.

My 97, has been thru two changes with the new fluid without knowing what was in there to begin with - just got it about a year ago with ~120K.

If you are worried about the trans fluid. IMHO, I would do a series of three drain and fills. Drain and fill, drive a bit - or at least start the car and shift it thru all of the gears several times. Then do another round....up to three.

Just me but I thought the 4th gens (90-93) only used/need 2.5 quarts doing a drain and fill.

on any Honda with an external air cooler for the transmission you can do this. This just happens to be a 2003 accord
