Default Accord LX or EX

Hi I have a 1994 Honda Accord. Says EX on the back of the car, but has the F22B2 engine, which from what I have read, should only be on the DX and LX models. Why is that? Bought some parts based on the EX on the back of the car and they were wrong.

Two thoughts:
  1. Someone stuck an EX sticker on the back of your car before you bought it, or
  2. Someone blew the original F22B1 SOHC VTEC motor and replaced it with the lower powered F22B2 motor.
Does the serial number on the engine match other serial numbers on the car? If not, then the engine was probably replaced.

I see that you are in Canada.

Canada EX are not the same as U.S. EX.

Canada EX-R are equivalent to U.S. EX.
