Default Accord revs up close to 2 when stopped

In the past I believe I had similar problem ( the car would rev up and down when at a stop light) and my mechanic cleaned the air control valve with brake spray and it fixed it ( i think this is what he said he did) this was a year ago. Now when i stop at a light, the needle doesn't go down to 1, it will stay at about 1.5...what could be the problem? how do i fix it?

Thanks

Any stored codes?

Have you given the TB a good cleaning, both sides and the edge of the butterfly.

Throttle body. Pick up a can of throttle body cleaner. Clean the bore and both sides of the throttle plate.

The rubber snorkel (big hose) connects to the air filter box and the throttle body. You will have to remove that to access.

An old toothbrush and rags will help....no metal brushes.

So remove TB, spray, scrub and put it back in place and connect it the way it was? If it is as simple as that I'm on it this weekend. Thanks!

You don't have to remove the throttle body. Just do it with it bolted to the intake manifold. Turn the throttle plate where the accelerator pedal attaches to the TB to access the back side of the throttle plate.
