Accord stops running after 5 seconds
I have a 94 with the same motor and am having a similar issue with mine. After mine starts the rpm drop to a rough idle after it warms to 4-500rpm then drops more and stalls. I can continue to give it gas and drive it...but it stalls anytime.
If its a rough idle there is a IACV on the back of the throttle body that you may need to clean the screen on.
Mine is still idling rough and stalling...but I have read the IACV can be common issue
Once it starts it will rev to 2000 rpm then drop down to 700 then it dies. I cleaned the screen on the IACV when I got home yesterday and it seemed to start easier but still has the same problem. It did run for a little bit longer than normal about 30-45 seconds.
I unplugged a vacuum line on the driver side of the manifold that runs against the fire wall. There are 2 metal tubes against the firewall, the 1 that it was hooked to continues a 3x8"ish canister. I simply hooked it up to the tube that is open on the other side.
This is NOT a fix...just a band aid. My CEL has not tripped, but it keeps it from completely stalling.
I commute 100+miles a day to work...this is my Daily driver. My truck gets 10 mpg do to low gear/big tires. My car runs great, just doesn't idle

Have you tried to set the base idle. Disconnect IACV and open/close air bypass bleeder (TDC of throttle body intake) to get about 550 +/-50 rpm. If this is not possible, you may need to adjust the throttle plate stop. I understand that you adjusted this earlier (should never be touched!). I would set air bypass bleeder to mid position and adjust throttle plate stop to achieve the spec rpm stated above.
good luck

I got you mixed up w/ another poster. If you haven't adjusted the throttle stop screw, try the base idle adjustment.
Also you need to clean the ports the IACV uses to bypass air around the throttle plate.

Hello all, I have been having some problems with my accord. With help from this site the car will now start but has no power while accelerating almost like a lack of fuel or too much back pressure. I am not sure where I should start. My gauge is not accurate but I have consistent fuel pressure up to when the engine shuts off. Thanks to all that have helped with the ongoing process.
