Default Aftermarket/Bosch O2 Sensors?

My wife's 99 Accord LX displayed a P1167 code. After doing the wiring check (which was OK), I went to my localAdvanced Auto store and picked up a Bosch O2 sensor for the exhaust manifold. The Bosch was $90 while my local Honda dealer wanted $190.I installed the sensor, erased the code, but it came back after about 2 min of driving.According to the Helm manual, there isn't anything more to check. Do folks generally have good luck with aftermarket sensors?? Am I better off getting the more expensiveHonda sensor? Jeff

Theres 2 different 4-cyl VTEC engines. You have the ULEV VTEC, right? P1167 is one of those codes thats only for the ULEV engine.

The front O2 sensor is different for the ULEV engine. Did the store actually sell you the one for the non-ULEV engine?

I'm not sure what Advance tried to sell me but its too late....maybe. I returned the Bosch sensor and spent a whopping $225 [:@]for the Honda sensor after giving them the VIN.I installed it and erased the code. But the MIL is back on. I haven't had the chance to see what the code is, andI'm not sure what's going on. The O2 sensor error is pretty simple...check for shorts in the wiring and then replace the sensor.

Am I missing something??

My 98 wasnt ULEV, so I dont remember much about the special ULEV codes. I think P1167 is for the sensor heater. Im pretty sure that sensor heater has its own fuse not shared with ECU power, etc. Did you check for power at the heater terminals?
