Default Alarm keep going on!!!

Hi guys / girls, been a long time i havent been here... got a slight problem twice, hence i thought of asking on here before getting it to a mechanic / dealer...

it hapened once, and it stopped for a long time.. then came back yesterday morning. i switched on and drove for a few yards, then a sort of high beep beep alarm came on and kept going constantly for about 30 seconds.. then stopped for a short while.. then went on again...

it did it for the whole 2 miles i drove. and when i parked, it continued, so i had to disconnect the battery when i parked...

came back in the evening, i connected the battery and went on.. it started again.. but i reached home and switched off the engine.... waited for a while and the alarm didnt come back...

the sound was coming from near the battery somewhere.

overall, i'm very pleased with the car till now. SInce i bought it, i have only had to do an oil change.. and no more mechanic visit till now.. thats the first time i have NOT been to a mechanic for this long...

Is it the vehicles anti-theft alarm or an alarm like say, a seat belt alarm?

There's not much up around the battery (assuming it's on the front right hand side of the engine bay).

I suspect the UK alarm systems are completely different than USA. Besides, if it's an aftermarket alarm, then anything goes.
