Default AM Radio in 2012 Accord

Hope to find some help. I just bought a 2012 Honda Accord it has XM and 6 disc CD AM and FM All worked perfect until I had the rear window tinted last week, now the AM stations do not seem to come in as clear as before. I took the car back to the shop that did the tinting and he seems to think that the am antenna (which is in the trunk) might have got wet when he was installing the tint. He thinks that as soon as the antenna drys out it will be ok. I'm not sure. What is your thoughts on this??

2012, how about you ask the dealer?

I am sure you have a warranty still, let the dealer handle it.

It may not be covered under warranty if the tinting shop damaged the antenna. The antenna is part of the rear window glass and the tinting shop could have damaged it during the tinting process (e.g, accidentally scrapping part of it during cleaning, etc.)

The AM/FM amplifier is located inside the C-Pillar.

Yes but the dealer is the place to go first

1) they may just fix it
or
2) they will say it was damaged by the tint shop then you go back to the tint shop and make them pay for the repairs

Got to Go with Crispin on this one, Take it to the dealer and let a PROFESSIONAL determine the cause for failure, don't assume that it was the tint shop, could be coincidental that it happened to be after the tint job, I sold cars for a couple of years and the dealer handles this type thing all the time. The shop manager will look at it if its hard to tell and they will make the call, they will get reimbursed for the WARRANTY work.
Good Luck
Please remember to let us know how this turns out, so if anyone in the future has this same issue they will know how it is resolved

The tinting material may also be the cause, some metallic tint may cause interference.

The dealer will see the tint and ....

The dealer may see the tint and since they aren't able to fix it, charge you a fee just for looking. Ask the service advisor if there will be a charge for diagnosing the problem and finding out it's not a warranty issue
