Exclamation 1993 LX rpm surging after driving, only in park

Hey,

My 1993 LX Is having issues. The car is surging between 1000 and 1500 rpm but only after its been driving and set in park, not in any other gear. Cleaned out the iacv and checked to adjust the fitv and replaced my pcv and new hose. I suspect that my oxygen sensor is also bad could this cause my surging issues? What else could I check?

Have you checked the radiator coolant level? Wait till it cools down, and open the radiator cap to check. If it is low, add a mix of 50/50 coolant/distilled water. You may need to also purge any remaining air pockets in the cooling system.

Vacuum leaks, loose FITV, and incorrectly adjusted idle can cause that too. Look in the DIY area for a post by me about setting the BASE idle.

sounds like a vacuum leak my friend, you can get a can of starting fluid and spray your various vacuum hoses and connections and if it jumps up in rpms right away then there is a leak.

I got some starting fluid and checked my hoses but I can't seem to find any leaks.. In gonna try cleaning out my iacv better and check again for a leak.. Any suggestions on my next step?

intake manifold gasket leak...since it happens after you've been driving and it's warmed up...and no, O2 sensor won't cause your problem. spray around the intake runners at the cylinder head.
