Auto - not shifting right 93 Accord
93 Accord wagon - automatic - 122,000 miles - been acting a little strange but I thought it was me just being sloppy about putting it in gear.
In D4, at a stop, it does not downshift. I can shift it manually into D1, 2 and 3 and it seems OK, I think -it might not be going into 1st. The green box around D4 stays lit and I think once the red box around P was blinking, but that went away.
Also, it will not shift into 4th. When I shift it manually, the shifts seem crisp and it doesn't feel like there is any slipping.
I did some searching and am thinking the solenoids might need some attention -just cleaning? Are the light trying to tell me something?
Thanks

the "p" won't blink only the "d4" will...it's basically a CEL for your trans.
Our gen accord to tend to have solenoid issues. I would check your codes 1st and see if your TCU is storing any codes that will prob. determine if your solenoids are bad or not. BTW pray they aren’t cus new from honda they are 250bucks each.
I actually just blew out my 2nd auto on my cb7. Gives me the excuse to do my 5speeds swap and my g22 engine swap as well.

On your 93, the S light may be what is blinking. Short the service connector behind the passenger side kick panel with a piece of wire or a thin paperclip. Count the S light flashes (or maybe the D4).

Duh! -OBD reader??, I forgot how old she is! - another lesson learned. - Anyhow, I shorted out the connector -little blue one with two wires, orange and green, (correct one? - feeling a little stupid right now) and the D4 light did not blink (steady on).
I reset - disconnected the battery for a few seconds - now all normal - lights normal, shifts OK. Any idea what might be going on? I'm tempted to clean the solenoids, just in case.
Guess I'll just drive it - carrying enough tools to reset if it happens again.
Thanks

And the trans fluid is clean and full. If you going to clean the solenoids might as well add a drain and fill (or two, three if the fluid is old) to the job. As for the light staying on, means there is no stored code. If the prob comes back, recheck for codes before resetting anything. Keep the connector loose, and your paper clip handy.
