Automatic Seat Belt Problem 91 EX
Hello,
I have a 1991 EX 2 door with 160,000 miles. I've been through a lot with this car and still love it. Rust around the windshield is my latest battle but it's OK.
The other day, when I came back after a 4 month absence, the battery was dead. No big deal...I put a portable jump start box on it and she fired right up. The automatic seat belt on the driver's side cycled properly once when I closed the door but when I opened the door a minute later it slid up to the open position and stayed there. The dash light comes on to remind me to use the belt but the slider won't move. The light stays on with the shoulder belt connected or not while I'm driving. Passenger side is questionable right now...I haven't really tested it but it is in the belt tightened position as if someone is seated there even when I open the door (the belt is disconnected). I looked for a fuse but couldn't find one. Any suggestions? It seems to me there was a TSB on this a while back but I couldn't find one.
Thank You,
Dan

I think back then Honda had a forever-for-the-life-of-the-vehicle warranty on the seatbelts. Call the dealer & ask.

Truth
Call your local dealer, explain problem, drop it off, ask for a rental if you need it.

RE: Automatic Seat Belt Problem 91 EX
What they have changed is the warranty on newer cars. They HAVE to honor the warranty that was given when THAT car was brand new. My 07 Civic has a 15yr / 150k mile warranty on seatbelts & airbags. All of my previous HondAcuras have been *FOR THE USEFUL LIFE OF THE VEHICLE*.
So if YOUR car has ever been given a salvage title, that may give them an excuse to disallow the warranty. Otherwise, call & checkit out.
