Default Automatic Shifter Light

I have an interior lighting question with my 2001 Honda Accord EX.

The bulb that illuminates the gear positions under the automatic shifter on the console remains unlit most all of the time, except for one situation - when the car vibrates as I run over rumble strips in the highway. After that they stay lit until I turn off the car. Prior to the rumble strip solution I thought it was just a bad lamp, but apparently there is a short of some type. Any advice on how to find the problem, or at least a point of beginning?

Any help is appreciated in advance.

Default RE: Automatic Shifter Light

it does not sound like a short,, it sounds like a poor connection,, you need to remove the center console and chk the connection at the bulb
