Wow shipo, even at 10K to 15K it seems I am being way to conservative. I am going to bump it up to 20K, as the cost of 3 qts of Honda ATF is only about 25.00 to 30.00 $.

Thanks and have a great Holiday weekend everyone!

I take things to the other extreme (sort of), given that 95% of my driving is steady state (i.e. Cruise Control) mileage on the interstate, I typically go forty to fifty thousand miles per fluid change. To be sure, if my commute scenario changes and I find myself doing lots of stop and go stuff, I'll start servicing the ATF much more frequently (assuming I still have this car and don't go back to driving a stick).

Bumping an old thread.

About 20k back I did 4 drain-and-fills on our 96 accord with 230k, using DW-1. After the first D&F the tranny shifted very smoothly, but after subsequent D&Fs it settled in a semi-hard shift.

The shifting is very positive, but I don't like the jerk in the shifts. I've read on other forums that people aren't thrilled with DW-1, and think it's a minimally compliant and overpriced fluid that has better aftermarket alternatives.

Wondering if a Valvoline Maxlife will do any better? It has received good reviews from other Honda owners, and it's certainly a lot cheaper than DW-1 .. worth a shot?

Thanks. John

Last time I checked there were exactly zero non-Honda ATF formulations which are compatible with Honda ATF.
