Axel / Fuel line rust 90 Accord
Working to keep a 90 Accord on the road. I've always gotten solid advice here and wanted to run two things by yall with more experience than me. Attached are pics of the DS half-axel and the fuel line into the tank both with a fair amount of rust. Do either of these look like they need to be replaced ASAP? This is my daily driver. I can upload more pics if that would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

The half-shaft looks like surface rust. You can clean it with some steel wool and put some rustoleum converter/primer to make it look nice. Usually the CV joints fail at the boot.
The fuel line doesn't look good, but I can't tell if it is leaking or close to corroding through. Do you smell gasoline?
Replacing the fuel line is kind of a pain, because you'd have to drop the tank. The pre-bent line is fairly expensive. You'd also have to remove a lot of the fuel pipe which can lead to more headaches. Using bulk metal fuel line is possible, but you would have to remove bad sections of pipe and create flare fittings. There are some good youtube videos on how to replace bad sections of line we can provide if you choose this route.

Thanks, PA. Helpful as always. I'll clean up the half as instructed.
With the fuel, no leaks and doesn't smell of gas right now. Is there anything you'd suggest to forestall more corrosion? (Right now it looks like there's a coating on the outside which is what is flaking off in the picture). Or just keep an eye on it for now and hope for the best?
