bad altinater? or something else

i put in a new alt. and it still wont charge

Yeah more info would be nice. And check all your grounds and terminals. Especially your negative ground from the battery to the engine block

maybe its a laptop... To my knowledge replacing the alt key will not help it charge...

In all serious though, please let us know what kind of car this is and what condition it is in.
