Default This Happen To Anyone Else?

Well I haven't been on here in a while and just wanted to post my experience I had the other day... After taking my girlfriend to work and driving back home, I was sitting at a stop light and I start to see a lot of smoke coming from the engine area. I checked to see if the car was overheating and it wasn't. Pulled off to the side of the road as quickly as I could and see water and antifreeze leaking everywhere and the whole engine bay was soaked in it...
I look to see where its coming from and my upper radiator hose busted.. I don't know about anyone else but this has never happened to me and I have owned a few older cars. Anyone else have an experience like this? lol

Not yet. I usually replace my hoses regularly. When they dry rot or thin out. Lucky you weren't far from home. Is your thermostat opening properly. Normally they don't blow unless there is aton of pressure

Yes those hoses are not meant to last the life of the car. A replacement hose is cheap. Good thing you caught it early. Probably saved the engine.

I guess I kind of figured it would blow because the hose would get huge and firm. The new hose doesn't get nearly as firm as the old one. Changed the thermostat not to long ago. Was actually about 10 miles from home . Had to have a friend come pick me up lol.
