My O2 Sensor was bad and i noticed my car chugging gasoline like it was nothing. After $400, i got a new sensor and now my car gets a steady 25 - 30 mpg in town.

Hi all,

Have not been able to find the OBD2 port, Im guessing it just has the OBD1 port (under dash, passenger side) so I wont be having any fun checking codes with a scanner My 97 Accord is US built so it probably is OBD2 compliant, but without the port (just OBD1 port then?).

Like I said earlier, I do not get a CEL... can I assume that the Oxygen sensor is working as it should? Ive seen many DENSO sensors on ebay going for around 50$, si Im thinking it may not hurt (in terms of $$$) to have it replaced and see if fuel economy raises?

I have also noticed that I have a small oil leak, do not know for sure where its coming from (stains on parking spot), oil level is fine, could this contribute to low MPG?

Hope you all had a nice XMAS and have a super party plan for the new year!

Best regards,

G76

If it's originally USDM then it should have an OBD2 port behind the ashtray. But if for some reason it doesn't, that's OK. Checking the codes with the blue connector under the glovebox is fine.

No. Oxygen sensors can get lazy over time, make the car run richer, and not trigger a CEL.

Makes sense to me.

No. But you might want to find the source of the leak just for peace of mind.
