  • I had previously suggested cleaning the battery ground wire contact areas due to the water (e.g., remove bolts holding battery ground cable, clean chassis ground area with sand paper and wire connector, etc.). In one of the attached pictures, it shows the battery ground wire connectors to the car's chassis. The ECU (car's computer) ground is G101 (shown in another attached pic.); this ground connector to the ECU is also relying on the battery ground wire connections at the other parts of the chassis. You may want to clean the battery ground wire connections, battery terminal posts, and possibly ground G101; and ensure all these connections are tight.
  • a main relay problem. The car not starting immediately could also be a main relay problem. See these links:

This other link shows the main relay location for a V6 in your model year; but, it should be similar for your L4 model. I also attached a pic. showing the location.

  • or even something else.

The main relay possibly shouldn't be ruled out yet. See this excerpt screenshot from the 2nd link I posted.

The main relay solder joints can be visually inspected for hairline cracks and cold solder joints; and re-touched with a soldering iron and solder.

I asked this before, but you didnt answer. How many miles are on the spark plugs? What brand did you use?

I have read about similar starting problems using the incorrect plugs.

Your car take NGK ZFR5F-11 spark plugs and most parts stores carry them. They are about $2 a plug. They are due to be replaced every 30K miles.

I would definitely change the spark plugs. This may be a $6-$8 fix.

im gonna change the plugs either way, since i assume they are old, i have put at least 30k miles on them myself since we got the car. the starting problem was never an issue until that rain storm that blew through here.

30K is the recommended spark plug change interval for your car, along with air filter, etc.
