The gf has a 2003 accord v6 ex (automatic) and lately, every few days the car wont start. All electrical systems go on but the car doesnt start. usually moving the shifter back and forth helps, but yesterday the car didnt start for an hour and finally started in neutral. Does this sound like the neutral safety switch is bad, and if so, how hard are they to replace?

Have a volt meter?

When the key is turned to on-not start just pos II/ does the cel come on and go off?

When the no start happens, can someone try to start the car as someone else checks for voltage on the small wire or the starter.

 

Nope, I do not have a volt meter.

And of course, whenever I try to replicate the problem, the car always starts.

So this sounds like it could be a multitude of things other than a bad neutral safety switch?

 

When it isn't starting, does the starter spin the engine?

Not that hard of a job to replace an MLPS on an 03 Accord 5sp. Location is lower end cover of the tranny to the left side. But you have to do some test before replacing it though.
