basically just need some advice
soooo I've been thinking about selling my DD and buying a little project. I have a motorcycle which can be my primary transportation temporarily, and have been wanting to get rid of my car note. Lol
My ex has a 1992 accord lx sedan 5 speed that needs a master cylinder for the clutch that is just sitting in my apartment parking lot. The car is not in bad shape but has like 280k miles on it.
If I could get this car for a couple hundred bucks and put a h22a in it could this be done for a couple grand? If I did the work my self of course. I know this is a popular swap just curious on exactly what I need. Could I use the tranny that is in it? I'm pretty sure the clutch itself is new.
h22a's are like $600-900 on eBay. Is there any better place to get one?
I guess I could rebuild the motor that's in it too if that would be a better way to go. I would certainly like more power than the 125hp that is in there currently. That's an f22 right??
Anyway I just need some advice. Whether y'all think I should buy this. I would like it to be reliable enough to be a DD if needed when I'm done with it.
Thanks. Here are some pictures. Its an LX trim

An h22 swap could easily be done for a few thousand. The motor is really the only expensive part. Hmotorsonline.com is good, a little more pricey, but stand behind their motors unlike a lot of other importers.
I would try and find one in a local junkyard, or craigslist or something so you can check it out in person, and most junkyards offer warranties.
Other than the engine itself, you have to modify your factory harness(free)
modify the stock driver side engine mount or buy a hasport one($125 i think)
The stock transmission will work with the h22.
ECU to run the h22($100 or so)
With any used engines I would go through it and replace most of the gaskets, timing belt, water pump, plugs wires cap rotor etc. So that will add up a little quickly, but definitely a great idea while the engine is out of the car.
Then you just have to modify the exhaust to work. I had a local exhaust shop weld up a test pipe to fit for $50 or something.

I think I answered my question about the transmission it will bolt up but the gearing really doesn't let the higher revving engine shine. so that's about $1800 it seems for a motor and transmission. Hmmm might have to bump up the budget

What do you think about the gearing in the transmission? Do you think I should buy it?? Lol

$1800 for motor and tranny? Seems high.
check out car-part.com for engines and trannies.
H23 and h22 transmissions have almost the same gearing(if I remember correctly h23 is a little bit shorter), so search for both. Should be able to find one for $200-300.
The h22/h23 transmission definitely does make a difference. Way way back in the day I swapped a h22 transmission into my accord that still had a f22 in it, and it took .7 second off my 1/4 mile time. So it is probably worth it.
