Default Brake lights on at all times...bumper broke!

On my '91 Accord, I found the brake lights on while the car was sitting in the driveway. The little bumper that mounts to the pedal and bears against the brake light switch has expired. Is there any source for this little plastic bumper?

I believe if you just order a new brake switch it will come with that part.

At Accurate Automotive, near Nashville,TN; we have been specializing exclusively in Honda and Acura automobiles for more than a decade.

We have seen this problem and you cannot buy that bumper piece separately

Agood solution is to simply take a 6mm bolt, lock washer and nut and secure it in the holewhere the bumper was originally located.

The head of the bolt will work perfectly against the brake switch.

Sincerely,

what hondaed said is true you can use a bolt to make it work
what is not true is when he said that you cannot buy that part seperately,,, i do it all the time for different year and models
part # for your car is ... 46505-sa5-000 and it costs a whole whopping $ 2.02 from honda.. dealer

Hey!!!!

I appreciate the part number.

I didn't think to go that far back in part numbers I believe that an SA5 in the middle of the part number commonly referred to the '86 thru '87 Prelude.

Thanks fellas for the information. I robbed the bumper from the clutch pedal temporarily until I can get the replacements. I hoped I could put the original back in - it's lasted this far along!

I was quite suprised to find the lights on tho. Not many failures cause the lights to work by themselves!
