Default Brake pad part #s?

I was shopping for brake pads, on Majestic Honda's website, and noticed there were two different part numbers for the rear pads (03 V6 sedan). Anybody know what's the difference between the two? Revision? Pad material? The part numbers are:
43022-S84-A50 and
43022-SV4-G22

If you look up the parts on hondapartsnow.com, you can click on the part number. A page opens to show what models those parts are compatible.

It looks like the S84 work on the 5th, 6th, and 7th gen accords with rear disc brakes. The SV4 work only on the 7th gen accords. I have no idea what the difference is between them.

Didn't the 7th generation have rear pads that wore out quickly? Maybe the S84 have more material or better material? Maybe your local dealership has them both in stock and will let you compare them next to each other?

I'm not paying dealership prices, that's why I was shopping on Majestic. I found the reciept from my last pad replacement, and I have the S84 pads on the car now. The rear pads did wear a little quicker than the front, but that's typical 7th gen since EBD. I have no problem with the pads wearing early really. The pads have never made a sound, produce little dust, and they obviously work well with the rotors, because I've never had to have them turned, just replaced the pads once at 50k miles (in town driving). I change the pads myself, so If I can do a full brake job for $100, every 50-60k miles, I'm happy with that. Now that I know which pads I have, I'm just wondering what the other pads are. I guess I could swing by the dealership one day, just to ask, but the parts department is usually closed when I go by there (closed at 5pm on weekdays and closed on weekends), which is another good reason I buy my parts on-line. Thanks

I understand about dealership prices. I thought that maybe the people at the parts counter or service department would know, because they deal with them every day.

They might, but I'll probably never get there, when the parts department is open. I would basically have to take a vacation day. I don't care that much.

Its definitely not worth it for you to go there. If you are happy with the S84 brake pads that you had on there, then I would stick with them.

Maybe another 7th gen V6 EX owner will find this thread. They can visit or call the dealership and ask them about the difference, then post their findings on here. Maybe someone else on here used the SV4 pads and can post their results.
