Default brake squeal

Hi I am new to this site. I have a 1996 accord and just replaced the front and rear brake pads. Prior to this I have had no brake noise. Now when I step on the brakes at low speed I get a high squeal noise. I have tried brake silence putty on the back of the pads. I also tried to get the front shims to fit better on the shims. And still squeals. The pads on the front have shims on it. do I need to put the factory shims on also? These are pep boys special and are semi mettalic. Any suggestions. I was thinking of taking off the factory shims. Oh and rotors seem to be fine.

Aftermarket pads take some research to find a set that works well. I use the Honda ones and use the gray anti seize on the contact points and between the shims. I have never had one make noise. If you look had enough I believe you can find a source for the factory ones by brand but I think the price is not much different.

Cheap pads squeal.

Did you grease the clips that the pads slide in? Did you pull out the caliper slide pins, wipe them off and put fresh grease on them? You should use a high temp, synthetic grease for brake parts.

Thanks for the input. Will try to use the pads I have and put anti squeak between pads and shims. If not then will have to go with factory pads.
