Default brakelight led's for 1996 honda accord dx

I've recently installed led's all around my accord. 50w resistors worked for the turn signals, corrected the fast flashing problem. the brakelight leds worked briefly before the brake lamp indicator came on. even so, they continued to work until i noticed that the brakelights including high mount were remaining on at the high wattage. now, i didn't install a resistor yet for the high mount led, but even when i reinstalled the oem 7440 bulb, no change. i did notice the brakelight resistors get very hot as compared to the turn signals, i assume because they are always in use. but they also turned from a golden yellow color to a bronze color i guess bc of the heat. is this normal and if so shouldnt reinstalling the regular incandescent 7440 high mount have fixed my issue? have the resistors failed or did i splice the wrong wire? the three wires were black (ground), orange, and red with a black stripe. i heard on youtube that the brakelight wire is normally the striped one. would it still have worked if i had splice into the lower wattage parking light wire? help would be greatly appreciated

Since the high mount brake light wiring does not run through the brake light failure sensor, and the brake lights are staying on, first check that the brake pedal stopper pad (for the brake light switch) is still there.
