I just recently changed out my front brake pads and everything seems to working fine accept in the morning I noticed when I start the car and press on the brake pedal I hear a clicking noise coming from the center console near the gear selector, then after a while the noise goes away. Any ideas what is causing this? The noise was never there before I changed the pads.

Also my car has 180,000 miles....What would you recommend replacing or maintinencing? I tow a jetski with this car so I am trying to get it ready for the season. I have bought the KYB GR-2 struts for the rearandI am now looking for a heavy duty spring. Any help or reccomendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

 

That clicking you hear is normal as long as it is a automatic....All of my automatic cars do that.

Correct me if I'm wrong... The click is the point at which the brake pedal is depressed enough to trigger the brake lights to illuminate?

 

make sure your suspention components are all in good order, maybe synthetic oil, make sure all fluids and filters are good as well, tires properly inflated. Have you had your timing belt replaced? other than that you should be good to go. jetski's I dont consider to be "heavy towing"

 

Its probably just your brake light switch. Is it cold where you live now?? If so, you may hear the switch when depressing the brake pedal and it goes away once you heat up the cabin.

 

I only hear the clicking noise when I press the brake pedal. Nothing else causes that. Thanks.

 

I had the timing belt replaced at 121,000 miles. I might be due for another change here soon. When would you change it that being said. Thanks.

 

That is very true. Right now it is kind of warm out here in St. Louis, MO. But it is coming from the center console. It is odd to me.

 

depending on your driving habits, like if you do primarily stop and go city driving then go ahead and change it, but if you do a combo/more highway driving you should have another 20k before you need to change it.
