broke a lug
Yesterday I broke a lug when taking off my front drivers side wheel. (This is on the 2000 LX.) A simple brake pad & rotor replacement turned into a nightmare. It looked simple enough to replace the stupid thing, but I can't get the old one out. It appears the hub has to come off to get to the lugs out.
I took the axle nut off thinking that was the only thing holding the hub on. Once I got it off though, the hub won't move. Is the hub machine pressed on?
Does anybody know if I can DIY this? Or am I going to have to bite the bullet and pay a shop to replace a lousy $3 part for me?

Don't envy you - few years back I had to replace a front wheel bearing, and I broke the lug when removing the wheel - it was cross-threaded and impacted at the shop. Could not get to the back of the hub to knock the lug loose, but I had to remove it from the spindle anyway. Vertical hydraulic press baby... no can do in my garage.

That is what I feared. Errggggg!!!!!
I thought I had it, but I realized there is just not enough clearance behind it to knock it through.
Yeah I'm sure mine was cross-threaded by some jerk at the tire shop with an impact wrench.
Oh well....looks like I'm driving on 3 lugs until I can get an appointment with my local shop.

Yeah I removed the caliper and the rotor. I should have taken a picture of the back to show exactly what I was talking about. Took it to the Honda Certified shop this morning. They said they could get it done for around $80 - I am assuming that is for 1 & 1/2 hours or so of labor. The hub is definitely going to need to be pressed out. I probably could have banged the old lug out (and possibly caused more damage), but there would have been no way of getting the new one in without the hub being off the car.

No need for a picture, I know exactly what you're talking about. I've been told that SOME(?) years there's a recess of some kind so you can spin the hub around & get the stud out. Unfortunately not on MY cars...
Hopefully, that includes a new wheel bearing. If you carry the knuckle in (off the car) then it doesn't take long at all.
Pressing out the hub often (but not always) destroys the wheel bearing.

I drove the car to the shop on 3 lugs. I sure hope they can get it done without needing to replace the wheel bearing. Now you have me nervous.
Yeah I felt all around for a recessed place just like you stated. I sure didn't feel one anywhere.

They got it done without damaging the wheel bearing. Cost me a grand total of $81.31 ($74.50 for 1 hour labor + tax).
They called me and gave me a long laundry list of things that "need to be done":
"The slave cylinder is leaking and needs to be replaced"
"The front struts and bump stops need to be replaced" - also the stabilizer links and bushings
"rear brake drums need to be resurfaced and need new shoes" - I already knew this one haha
Oh yeah and they said my battery tested bad - they want $130 to put an interstate battery in there HAH!!!
I told them "no thanks" and paid my $81.31
Oh and they also said the rear main seal looks like it is leaking a bit. I really don't get this because there is not a single drop of oil or any kind of liquid in my garage beneath my car. What gives? if the slave cylinder was leaking, shouldn't there be brake fluid on my garage floor too?

The tech said he "thought it may be leaking." I was also skeptical as you since I know they can't see it. I bet what they saw was an old oil stain or something from when I last changed the oil and dropped the filter and got old oil all over.
I was a bit disappointed int he shop. They seemed to be pretty straight up guys last time.
