Default Broken Light/Turn Signal Switch...

1998 Accord Ex 4dr.
I got in my car and my key lanyard wrapped around the switch, so when my big *butt* sat down, it snapped the thing clean off...
Any way I can turn the High Beams off?
I got the lights to come back on and I rely on the relay to shut them off after I lock the car, but i need the high beams off or I'll get a ticket.

Any help would be great.
Thanks in Advance.

Hard to tell, might be able to insert/push with a screw driver and "click off" the high beams. That should get you by until you can get a new switch...not sure on that gen if you can replace the light/wiper switches without having to replace the whole "combination switch"???

I just don't know what part to stick a screw driver to...

The white part towards the front of the car slides up and down and controls the off/parking/headlights portion...

Not worried about turn signals...

Does the metal "pole" for lack of better words, control the high beam "click" ?
I don't want to break it to the point it wont work...

Local Honda dealership will have my switch tomorrow and...
it should be only the headlight/turn signal switch, from what the parts guy said
(column cover comes off and most likely the steering wheel???).

$81 + tax in PA.

Any pro advice or quick tips?
I'll be changing it myself.

Looks like once you remove the plastic shrouds around the steering column, the switch comes off with a couple screws. I don't know how much hassle you'll have fishing around with the wire pigtail (how close is the plug?)

It's a very small click... the screw driver may be harder than its worth... another 24 hours won't kill ya... if people honk ohh well.. I have regular advance auto sylvanias, the higher dollar ones, and people flash me all the time.. I'm like wtf..then I hit em with the high beams.. people will be people

I would maybe try and pull apart the colum of the steering wheel and get ready for your new part... or hit the scrapyard, find your car and tear that apart for practice... I find it so much fun, and you learn on junk rather than on your ride.. its not too hard tho.. patience and you will be good..

Have fun! And good luck.

I've got the part in hand.

The Screwdriver can work to click the high beams off but not on again.

If you place the screwdriver behind the little metal pole, and gently pull back as you would before while push in slightly... the high beams will click off.

The parts guy said it shouldn't require me to take the whole steering wheel off just the column cover and 3-4 screws to take the part out.

We'll see...
Will keep you guys posted.
Thanks for your help so far everyone!
