RE: bubbling noise in ac unit
Check that water drains from the evaporator drain line when AC is engaged. Low humidity can sometimes make this difficult; too little moisture to cause a drain. Hadrly ever have that problem in Houston. If no water draining, you may be accumulating enough water to hear the water sloshing around inside the evaporator housing.
I've also heard some hissing/gushing sounds from evaporator when charges begins to get low. When compressor cycles off the system equalizes pressure across expansion valve and noise is generated.
good luck

RE: bubbling noise in ac unit
we had same kind of issue in a few earlier cars 94-95 ,while under warranty , what we did was to evac the a/c system and keep it under vacc for 3-5 hours then recharge it ,, that tip came straight from honda tech line ..
it might be a waste of money and time but you might want to give that a shot ,, without any of us hearing the actual noise it is kind of hard to diagnose properly
