Default A/C controls

I have a 97' accord SE and was wondering if someone could help. The switches on the A/C control panel do not switch (like switching to defrost or air in the face). The a/c works fine. I just can't switch it from blowing on my face to defrost. I have looked at a lot of sights that sell accord parts, but none of them have the a/c control panel. Is this a problem on anyone else car? Is there a way to take the A/C control panel out and see if there is something in there? I have tried to push and hold the defrost button, but it still shows the air blowing in the face. The defrost light comes on, but there is no air blowing out of the dash.
Help!!! I have to keep a towel in the car for in the mornings when the windshield is foggy.
