Default HEATER HELP Please

Ok I have a 1987 Accord LX with some heater issues.

the blower motor on the heater does not work unless you turn the key in the ignition switch all the way on and just about half way to the point on the ignition swithch were it will engage the starter. If you turn to far it will start the car. It blows hot and everything but only works if you turn the key in this fashion. Does the heater blower work off of the ignition switch?? Is switching the ignition switch a possilbe cure??

Is there anyway to hard wire a switch for heater operation??

Yeah everything else works just fine! It is the weirdest thing. All accessories work, just not blower unless you turn that key over just prior to starter engage. Well the radio does not work come to think of it. Hmmm??

Winter is coming and I need a fix to keep the blower working. I wonder if a hard wired switch would work? Installed right to heater blower motor??

Hi. I have an '89 Accord SE-i and am starting to have the same problem. Problem as follows:

Engine on: blower motor and radio have no power (sometimes they work)
Key on to position II: blower motor works no radio
Key on to position I: radio works normal
Engine back on: everything working ok.

Any idea's? Sounds like the electrical portion of the ignition? Weird thing is all other electronics work ok and the engine starts everytime too.

I wonder if it could be the ignition switch?

If I were to guess i'd say Ignition Switch Electrical, but I really didnt want you to put in unneccesary part..

however - we just had similar problem on a BMW 528i which was fixed by ignition switch electrical so.

I'm 90% sure that it will fix the problem. The part should cost around $40-50 from a dealer. you could replace it yourself not really a big thingie. Requires some dexterity though.

good luck
