I stopped by the dealership to get some calliper grease, and the guy hands me some super hi temp urea grease. Is this calliper grease? I want to use this on the pins, for my next pad change.

 

yeah that would probably work. because the calipers get really hot so, yes

 

Dont know what he gave you cause I never heard of urea grease, but when you go to get your pads ask your parts man for a tube of caliper pin grease and then you'll know what it is for sure..

It's not in a tube, but in a plastic jar. There is nothing on the container saying what it's for. I'm guessing they didn't have any calliper grease, so he just gave me the urea grease and said no charge. I hear this is expensive/synthetic grease. The service manual says to use this grease for the throttle cable end (throttle link).

 

The Honda dealership I worked at used the grey anti-seize on the pins and back of the pads.

 

And that's what Ive been using for 45 years or so!

 

Urea grease is good, it was originally designed for use on the throw out bearing, where it slides on the trans shaft.
It will stand up to high temps of the brake caliper.
My issue with anti-seize, [I know people love it] is that it seems to get sorta 'Gluey' after it has been under high heat and the solvent/liquid cooks out of it.

 

I always thought the anti-seize was only for the pad backing and shims. That's what I used it for. I didn't grease the pins the first time, but I want to do it the second time around. Since the grease says "super hi temp" and it's used for super important areas, I figured it would be well suited for calliper pins. Thanks guys

 

That urea grease is what the Helm book calls for. I've been using some silicone brake grease I got at AutoZone or someplace like that.
