Can mistimed valces cause a lean condition? 2000 accord?

Exactly. But I was wondering if a tooth had broken off, and maybe it skipped.
But if the belt breaks on a 4 cylinder, you run the risk of damaging the valves and the pistons.
Since it's not broken, and it hasn't been changed, I'd be looking at having it done ASAP.

It's a 4 cylinder automatic transmission
