Default Can someone identify my engine?

Hi,
I bought my 95 Accord LX from a neighbor that had gotten an engine swap. He said that he thought it was from a year 2000 Accord VTEC, but everyone I've talked to seems to be in disagreement over whether or not that is accurate. I rewired the engine last year with a 95 wiring harness and it fit perfectly. Also, I put on the older version of the distributor. Now I have to do the water pump (and timing belt, etc.), but am unsure as to which to buy. Can somebody please help me FINALLY figure out what the heck I'm driving??? Thanks!

Some have said the head was swapped and not the block, but I wouldn't know.

Just like the block says it is a F22B. It is a Japanese motor, as in wasn't sold in this country. There are two version of the F22B, the single cam and the dual cam. Yours is the single cam. It is basically the same as the stock engine that came in the ex 94-97 accord(f22B1).

My guess is the stock engine blew and they ordered that engine from a engine importer for $500 or so.

Just to give you some more information about the stamped number.

The F stands for the engine. F-series were from 90-02 4-cylinder accords. The 22 is a 2.2L engine. B, I think is the 94-97 engines, where A would have been the 90-93 engine.

Ok cool, this confirms my suspicions. Which means that the old owner was wrong. I just didn't want to get everything taken apart and have bought the wrong timing belt/water pump and be stuck out of luck. Just to make me feel better, you guys don't think that this is a 94-97 block with a 98-02 head swapped onto it? (or is that even possible? These are things I wouldn't know)

I think it's all 94-97. When you are buying parts just buy them for a 95 accord ex.
